I see why there were only 9 made.
I remember someone here in the UK picked up one of these, 1 or 2 years ago. Think it was on ebay. How it made it over to these shores, God knows!
Ah yes, probably was you. Somehow I missed your post above. Can't think there'd be more than 1 of these in the UK.Probably was me..It was bought over from the states to the U.K in the early 80's, by a couple who ran a pub in the U.K. It was used upstairs by their son. After many years the pub closed, and they gave the machine to a friend, who stored it in her garage for years. That's when I got it.
So I know this has been found out to be a Prototype , only a few made, etc.. BUT I want to point out a funny ironic statement.. FYI what you described above is what you *would* expect from a "custom home project" and *not* from a company. If the home project worker is good, 10 times out of 10 home work will be the highest quality you can find. The machine's cabinet is honestly very high quality, it is made of a very nice solid wood, NO LAMINATE! Heavy-duty stuff! Varnished or shellacked.
It does not look like a home custom project at all, its WAY too high quality and made way too well. These things you can tell pretty quickly just by looking at it.
