So, I have had zero luck finding a vs. cab around me for a decent price - been looking for over a year! I have seen plenty of DK's, DK jr's, Popeye's and would like to know this:

Is it hard to convert one Nintendo cab to a vs machine? I 'd like to be able to "plug and play" the vs. kit and whatever the original kit was (DK, Popeye, etc) and I'm not sure if this is possible.

You shouldn't have any problem finding someone to trade a normal Nintendo harness for a VS harness... most people are trying to convert back to Nintendo classic :)

I have a couple control panels w/ harnesses back to the 18-pin connector if you're interested... then you'd just need to wire the 22-pin connector from the normal nintendo pinout to vs...

Might be worth laying out some boards to do the conversion.. hmm.

I have a Blue Nintendo cab that someone painted black and converted to Bionic Commando, then someone else later stripped it down to nothing. I made it into a Vs. cab by buying a complete set for it - power supply, wiring, control panel, and board - from someone on here...

I have several Vs. parts for DK cab conversion, CP's, PCB cages, monitor mounting brackets, etc. There are more DK/Popeye to Vs. conversions than dedicated Vs. machines out there I can tell you that. I also have at least two DK to VS. harness conversions I could snap pics of.

So this does sound pretty easily doable. mspaeth, if I can find a cab, I'll hit you up for the cp/harness for sure.

How hard is it to make a new connector? Do I need soldering skills or am I just crimping and wiring into a couple connectors?

EDIT - found a vs. cab near me - missing front plexi and it needs a new bezel - can I just get a new plexi cut or does it use something special (tinted, painted border etc. Can't remember...) and is the bezel the same as most 19" monitor ones?

Thanks for your help so far guys.
