possible repeal of coin op ban next week

Wow that woman who was responsible for the ban is still a moron after all these years. "Oh there gambling machines not like the pinball games I use to play when I was younger". It never ceases to amaze me how uninformed and stupid people are about stuff. You should open an arcade In you town just out of principle LOL.

"The town has fears it will attract the wrong kind of people, that they'll have an adverse effect and, most importantly, that bringing in arcade video games will "open the door to adult entertainment"."

.....Uh yeah... I remember all the porn shops next to the arcades I went to.

Frankly, I am amazed that people with so little brain power are able to stand upright, let alone form entire sentances or hold positions of political power.

Sorry, had to. Irony is fun. :D

D'oh. That's what I get for typing too quickly.

I've certainly done worse before... And I agree with what you said, it was just funny that there was a typo in it. :001_sbiggrin:

I used to live in Marshfield in the early 70s and I never knew about this (we moved to the DC area in 1972). Like many of you, I spent ALOT of time in the arcades in the 80's and, in a way, it helped define who I am today (it spawned my interest in IT, etc.) I suspect I would be a much different person today if we had stayed in Marshfield and never moved out. It really makes one think what might have been...though I probably would have just gone to the next town over to spend my quarters...

i'm surprised and shocked that they voted to keep the ban in place. they've only had 29 years of proof that video games aren't a gateway drug...

The kind of people who ban video games don't really go in for evidence or facts much - they make gut level decisions and then assume they can't be wrong.

It's kinda sad, but all too common, especially in politics.

Ahh, small towns. I think I'll stick to my suburbia...

Does someone suddenly think they're going to make a ton of dough in a town where over half of those voting would vote against repealing this stupid law?

I say let `em live the way they want to. If they don't wan them "evil coin-op" machines... who cares?

i just think it's funny. i mean, having a game in a 7-11 or whatever is such a harmless thing. not like it's gonna hurt the town or anything.

but, i guess that's why i went to starland in hanover as a kid. they had a good arcade there.
