I've started an e-mail conversation with Bob about the possiblity of stocking another PCB capkit, this time for Omega Race. I figure a game with this many large axial caps is well past due for new caps. I am away from my set right now, does anyone want to get the cap values and locations for each board in the two board set?

I figure this post will also serve as an interest list. I can't be the only one that could use this kit.

After getting it fixed, having it break, then getting it fixed again - are you SURE you want to mess with anymore?

Yep! With these older high dollar sets I figure it is worth extra money to change out the caps especially if they perform a power conversion of some sort. I have capped these PCBs: Night Driver, Tempest, Star Castle, Armor Attack, Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man. Whatever I can do to keep these old PCBs running reliably, I'll do. Is this a bit overkill? ...maybe.

Edit: Forgot one, Spy Hunter.

Here is the list I came up with. I had to improvise locations on main board capacitors, there is no labeled row or column 10. I have added notes in parentheses. These are all Axial capacitors:
SOUND BOARD
1000uf 35v, M1
1000uf 35v, M4
470uf 25V, M3
470uf 25V, M4
470uf 25V, M6
10uf 35V, L2 (yellow case)
10uf 35V, L5 (yellow case)

MAIN BOARD
1000uF 35V, L10 (by edge connector)
220uf 25V, L10 (by edge connector)
470uf 35V, H10 (by edge connector)
22uf 35V,B10 (by edge connector)
10UF 35v c9
10UF 35v a9
10UF 35v a9
10UF 35v a9

I've never seen a bad cap on an OR game board, not to say they won't fail at some point though. I'd say the most important board would be the power supply PCB. The big caps aren't usually the ones that fail, its the small ceramic ones that need replacing. A power supply cap kit would be good.

I agree. Power supply kit first.

Say, when are you going to start on the next Omegarace board? I'm really enjoying the repair logs. I can hardly wait to read more of the adventures of Omegaman and his quest to fix the world's Omegaraces. :)

Something tells me that the Z80 backwards logic is awaiting on the #5 update?? Love the reads as well here too ;)

Cap kit now available. I also ordered ones for Galaga and Asteriods Deluxe. Looks like I'll keep my iron busy.

Once I get the Omega Race one in, I'll let you know how it went/if my PCB still works :p

Someone else can tackle the power supply PCB. I can't even get my 12V working again after a rebuild, so it's not me.

I have been working on them this last week, I'm getting there with number 5 but number 4 is being a real PIA. Work, Women and kids keep eating into my time :)
