Gentlemen!
I have a quick question...I bought a monitor and I think it may have a mismatch of deflection board to CRT and I was wondering if this is an ok cross reference. The deflection board I have is a KTMF-27" (that is what is printed on it) I found a service manual for it and it seems to be a Sharp Image 27 SI-327. This deflection board is connected to a Zenith GA63ADG25 25 inch CRT. After I installed it into my machine it was making very weird noises and the picture was amazingly discolored and sorta blotchy brown so I immediately turned down the screen voltage which seemed to correct the problem. Consequently, I then had to turn up the brightness to about 90% full rotation I also noticed some corona discharge from the anode cap with a lovely smell of ozone (cleaned the back of the monitor near the anode cap). I then noticed that there was some slight rainbow effect on the bottom when I adjust the horizontal position up ward (vertical configuration) but it is easily hidden (possible over horizontal deflection?). The anode voltage is 25KV. The service manual says that the CRT should be a A68ACT00X. My concern is X-Radiation exposure if the voltage gets too high for this CRT but is below the protection circuit. I have it now fully operational and it looks sweet, no corona, no blotch, super sharp! Is this configuration acceptable?

Thank you
Brian K

The KTMF is a 27" chassis, and you have it mounted to a 25" tube. Of bigger concern would be if it is mismatched to the yoke. What you described sounds a lot like trying to display a medium-res chassis with a standard-res yoke.

Are there any labels on the yoke?: I have a cab here with a monitor that has a KTMF 27 on it, and while it's not easy to get to at the moment, I could pull it out over the next couple days to check it against anything you could find...

Due to the fact we have some under the gun technicians with the "just make it work" careless supervisor put the unknowing user at risk! Thank god I have some tech skills and know how to protect myself from this kind of repair work. I am also very greatful for this website that extends my knowledge to an effective end!! I'm bummed now i have to buy another monitor......Ugggh

Not really. Just buy a P538 K7000 chassis and you're done.

Unless you need it to be medium-res...
