Been looking for a pinball for awhile now. Recently sold a couple games and have about 800-1000 to spend on one. Had to sell a couple vids.

Came across a CL ad for a FIRE! Pinball from Williams, can probably buy it for around 950.
Is this game any good? Would it make for a decent first pin? From what I can tell it is somewhat non-standard gameplay wise.

If this is not a good pin what other ones should I be looking for that may have a lower price tag. (I would love a STERN but too much $$$).

If anyone has one that fits that range let me know. Looking for a late 80's + pin nothing earlier.

thanks

I shouldn't be chiming in, as I know nothing about pinball.

But I know what I like, and the music in FIRE! is some of my favorite among pinball machines...

From what I have heard Fire is a good pinball. Although, I think its prone to fade. Not sure about your area's market and if auctions are an option, but you may be able to pick one up a bit cheaper there. As for target pins, it depends on what you grew up with. But in general, Bally/Williams are hard to beat although fans of Gottlieb can be adamant about the greatness of Gotlieb(games like Haunted House, Black Hole, Spirit and the like). As far as the Williams goes, System 11s are great, fairly modern and often cheaper than their DMD counterparts. Some great titles in that mix like Earthshaker, Whirlwind, F-14 Tomcat and many others. If you want a DMD pin in that range, you could look for some of the Data East as they can sometimes be found in or near that range. Games like Tales from the Crypt, or Jurassic Park. Or even a couple Sega titles like Godzilla or Frankenstein. Anyway, check out the pinball data base to see how the games rate to help you pick a decent one and see what others had to say about the machine.

Hope that helps.
