This guy is selling a Ms Pac Cabaret for $300 which i would love to get but the only problem is that this ad was up last month as well and when i called he said it was sold. Now its back up.I just called the guy and he says he has it but then i tell him i called him last month about it and he said it was sold and he started saying that he had 2.I said it sounded shady and he hung up.Very suspicious to me.I don't get these people.

heres his #

heres the ad http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/tag/3456893031.html

How is it a scam if he is giving you a phone number to call? Most of the cl scams are people trying to get your email address so they can send you spam.

When i get a chance i will post the phone call and you decide for yourself. You dont think its weird a guy is selling something, sells it,puts the same pic up again saying he originally had 2?

He sounds very ghetto as well.

I'd hang up if you called me "shady", too.

BTW, $300 for a working Ms. Pac Man cabaret in good shape is underpriced by around $150-$200 if not more, IMHO. Put that in a retail shop = $700, easy.

He sounds very ghetto as well.

Ho boy.

There`s so many different scams on craigslist it`s crazy !!! People copy previous ads from others & try & bait somebody into meeting them somewhere then your getting robbed. There was a real estate scam where they were renting homes that were`nt theirs.
Then there`s the douche bags that advertise stuff & never respond...

Scam

This could have happened...
Someone backed out of a deal that he thought was sold. So he thought he had it sold the first time when you called him a month ago.
Maybe he had 2 units to sell.
But if he had a bad experience or not, saying its shaddy... I'd hang up too.

Ya know, sometimes people pull their ad because they think their game is sold, and then some douchebag buyer stands them up. Or their friend decides he wants it and then changes his mind 3 weeks later because rent is due. Or the monitor suddenly starts messing up, it takes him a month to figure it out.

My point is, who cares if he said it was sold last month? If you want it, the sale is on his terms, he can say whatever the hell he wants. How is that a scam, are you going to show up and he's going to try and sell you a cardboard box with a picture of Pacman taped to the front? Jeez.

But I have to agree with the previous posters, if someone said I was shady I'd hang up on them too.

Sorry to vent, but that's one of my biggest problems with CL is that I don't know if some jerkoff is going to post my personal contact information on a public forum after I give it to him in good faith.

You should really edit your post and remove his number.

FWIW, the phone # is in the CL ad, so that's really not a big deal.

No, because the seller's ad will come down whenever the item is gone.

Posts on this forum will be here for as long as we are, probably years.

So it is a big deal.

If you get a bad vibe I say move on. I picked up some games off CL a while back that ended up being in a ghetto project. Fortunately for me the seller was a stand up guy. He told me that it was pretty regular for people in that apartment complex to put fake postings on CL then mug the buyer when they show up. If you are coming to buy sometimg for a couple of hundred they know you have the cash on you.

Good point, but you make it sound like it will be a sticky or a Noice dating thread. This thread will be out of sight and out of mind in no time.

I think its more weird you recorded the phone call, sounds shady.

I even texted the guy from another # for pics but he won't send any. Just keeps telling me to come to the address. And for all you people getting mad, read the title of the post. "possible scam". I talked to the guy and it sounds really fishy. I just want to know what kind of scam it is. Maybe some new kind of CS scam to watch out for. The guy stopped texting me back when I asked for pics btw.

I disagree 100% Vongoosewink. The original poster felt that there was something amiss and in asking this forum for an opinion he was also alerting others of "his" experience. I am glad for one that he shared it with the rest of us. Remember all of us are different and have different rationale on what we are willing to come "to the table" with. Having his number posted in his own CL ad is far more dangerous then our group here. Also in a couple weeks this thread will be down the road no one will bother. So pour yourself a beer, mixed drink, or prune juice and relax.
