popeye

I think it's a fun game. The animations and music are kind of cool and I think it's challenging enough. The only thing I don't like about it is that there's only 3 levels. I know that's only 1 less than DK, but it makes a significant difference IMO. It's a good Nintendo game to play if you want to take a break from DK as it is very different in gameplay. Instead of trying to reach the top of a level or removing rivets, you try to avoid Bluto (Brutus) and other enemies while collecting items (hearts, music notes or letters) to complete a level.

$200 is a good price if it's a working solid cab. Based on my recent sale/trade for one (Thanks again Slackmoe!), I'd say mine is valued at around $300-350, but it's solid wood and very clean inside and out. It just needs side art.

I think the game is fun. Me, I am trying to keep from buying anything other than games I REALLY enjoy.

I've been playing Popeye for many years. It's a game I come back to a lot. Not as good at Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr., but it's better than a lot of games from that erra. It's definately worth the money in my opinion.

Who the hell is Bruno? It's Bluto (fat) or Brutus (muscular). Fucking Bruno.

Whoops. Fixed. Thanks Phet. I must have been thinking about the movie Bruno.

popeye's awesome! very challenging and it's history is second to none! rumor has it that donkey kong's concept was originally designed for popeye(popeye instead of mario bluto instead of kong olive instead of pauline)but king features would not release permission. only after the success of donkey kong did they give permission and nintendo had to redesign a new game!

Go for it. If it turn's out you do not like it. You can most definetly sell it or trade it away for $200 again.

Its a very hard game. But it was prominent in my arcade days so I have one. Wouldn't feel like the collection was complete without one.
