Good afternoon folks. Just got back with a nice Popeye. This one is in a really nice DK Jr cab. The question I have is just really a confirmation of wiring. There is a happ switcher in place of the original. The black nintendo connectors have been chopped off and the wires are all going to +5 and ground. See pics:

I found this: http://api.ning.com/files/kVwUDJk6y...lXSB4feLxL64jj2-WW-tiJeVwA63e6-GWk/popeye.JPG

I want to install a DK Jr PS type and go back to original. Will the diagram above get me where I need? Thanks, in advance.

Any reason why you just don't leave the Happ supply in it, albeit, I'd clean up the wiring a bit. Popeye only really needs 5VDC. All the extra voltages a Donkey Kong Jr. power supply feeds would be a waste of a good Nintendo supply:).....not too mention, you're gonna have to source those tiny and hard to find connectors for an original Nintendo supply.

I believe a guy named Edward advised me that switchers are not good for nintendo boards. Something about too many amps being delivered. That may have been specific to DK boards, but I can't recall. :)

Oh yeah, that guy!!

All honesty, it's specific to the classic Nentendo games that use negative 5VDC. Nintendo stuffed them with a ton of ECL logic chips....your Popeye will run just fine with a standaed switcher (it doesn't have any ECL logic).

My DK has been running just fine with a switching power supply.
Some DK boards don't like them buy mine has no problem with it.
