My second ever restoration. I restored a Punch-Out!! last year and used black laminate on it. It turned out fantastic!! I wanted to laminate Popeye BUT my local supplier wanted nearly $100 EACH for a 4x8 BLUE sheet of laminate as it would have been special order. Then they wanted to charge ME freight on top of that!! Last year I lucked out and got 2 4x8 black sheets for $40 as they were old stock for punch out.

So for less then $40 I picked up enough vinyl for the Popeye cab. Keep in mind.....my goal was NOT factor original Blue. Just wanted it to look respectable. I found a marine dark blue in a fabric shop that I think went on well.

Keep in mind there are TWO main types of vinyl. You can get the self adhesive thin vinyl from Rich at this old game to make your Popeye original color. You have to really know what your doing for that type of vinyl to go on properly!! It takes practice and experience. The type of vinyl I went with is more forgiving and covers up every little imperfection indented in the cab sides.

here were the results.....

The marque had a BURN in it. Almost like someone had put an over sized ROUND light bulb in the front. However, that would make NO sense because Popeye machine's are equipped with the tube style florescent bulbs that don't even get close to touching the marque. How this happened?? who knows???
