Popeye monitor replacement (EZV->EZV) new monitor wavy

I popped out the monitor in the tech help thread with the screeching sounds. probably could've done an amp board swap, but I don't know where the problem's coming from.

I had an extra EZV sitting that I bought a few months ago and wanted to try it out.

I noticed that there's a little wave at the bottom of the screen going upward.

is this symptomatic of running a 100V EZ in a 120V machine? I think the serial tag said 120V on the back.

any help in how to identify these voltage discrepancies between the monitors would be appreciated. alternatively I could've just metered the damn outlet to see what's coming out of it too. I left the game off, don't want to cook anything.

it had a fried rice aroma, I just couldn't figure out where it was coming from. nothing from the back.

Definitely measure the outlet that the monitor is plugged into.
And if the "serial tag" you are referring to is the cabinet tag, then that's irrelevant as it just means the "machine" gets plugged into 120v. What is happening inside from all the transformers and such that feeds the monitor is where it really counts.
Could 120v cause a wave, possibly, as it would bump up all the other voltages on the chassis, B+,etc. (if you are lucky enough for it to survive that is)
Could also be the wave 20EZ's are notorious for, voltage regulation, main filter cap, etc. etc.

it's getting 105 to the outlet, so it is 100V. sounds like a bad filter cap then, I got lucky on all my other monitors, I guess. lol actually my bottom PC-10 monitor has a little bit of a wave in it too, but not like this one. my PC-10 monitors are Sharps I guess, cause they have degauss buttons.

I just let the good times roll. thanks, not entirely sure why I had a brainfart on the stepdown, I guess it was a long weekend.
