Popeye JAMMA power question

I'm at a loss. I can't seem to get any of the settings changed to fix the issue. I can also confirm now that the dip switches don't help my case at all, as the game still gives me that deep blue tint no matter how they're set. I have no idea what they're used for.

The color pot doesn't help me either. I pulled it out to each slot, turned it back and forth, but the colors still stayed the same aside from certain ones being a little stronger as I pulled the pin out.

the dips, i believe, being labeled game elf, should interact with pin 27 and ee to be ground or input. The three pots interact with the color.

Shoot a message to arcade forge to get a detailed explanation of the components on that super gun :)

I'll send a message and see if anything comes back. I can also now confirm that my RGB2COMP RetroTink device isn't the issue. I received a completley new SCART to component adapter today where the colors were still being displayed wrong. If my supergun isn't the one giving me issues at this point, I'm not sure what else could be doing this.

It's been about a week since I sent ArcadeForge an email about my supergun, but I haven't received any reply.

I hate to say it, but I think my next option is to either buy the new MAK version from their site, or get a different supergun elsewhere. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't waste your time with the MAK. Look at Axunworks. I ordered a build from him and had it in two weeks.

Would the Axunworks work with CHAMMA and display things like my Popeye board properly?

I am using an Axunworks setup, an Arcade Shop Nintendo adapter, and an OSSC Pro. Popeye works perfectly for me. Retrotink may or may not give you the video modes you need, I don't know. OSSC Pro's "Scaler" mode works for me.

Do you hook any of them up to a CRT? That's my primary display for my arcade games. I don't have any of the OSSC products, but I do have the same Nintendo adapter and another RGB converter ontop of my RetroTink if that doesn't work.

I've used a CRT with it. You don't need a RetroTink at all, if the CRT supports Popeye's oddball video mode (most CRTs do). You can order an Axunworks -to- BNC cable for that.

You should email Axunworks, tell them what you're running for a CRT, and ask him what you need for a setup.

I sent an email and it sounds like either the Axunworks JJ-CBOX PRO or their mini supergun would be my best bet. @FlashShift do you happen to own any of those particular ones yourself that work with things like Popeye? And is there one in particular I should get over the other?

I own both, and they both play Popeye just fine. The big trick with Popeye is either having a CRT that supports the oddball video mode, or using something like an OSSC Pro to re-render it in a different mode.

Oh wonderful! I know the JJ-CBOX PRO is much more expensive than the supergun mini, but would you suggest that one over the mini for any particular reasons, or would the mini version work just fine for the most part?

It's been a little while, but I finally found a replacement supergun that displays my boards correctly again!

However my Popeye PCB is still blue tinted. I don't remember what direction to getting this fixed was left at, but it's something I want to look back into.

Any ideas for how to get this back to normal?

That looks inverted. Do you have original Popeye or Bootleg? If original, you need to invert the colors, some adapters do it for you with jumpers. The bootlegs should not require inversion (in my experience)

I believe it's an original, at least the seller said it was and it looks like one. The only adapter I'm using is a Nintendo to JAMMA. Is there a way I could invert it with that, or is it something on the PCB itself?

depends on the adapter you are using. The one I use has jumpers for inversion

Post pics of the adapter you have and we will figure it out.
