Picked up an ex-Popeye that's been converted into at least 6 other Unisystem games through it's life, even has a lightgun bracket on it, but when I hook up my Dr. Mario board, I get blinky brown screen, like a NES going through power-on/reset cycles if there was a dirty cart in it.

I put Dr. Mario back in the dedicated Unisystem cab, and it works fine. Huh? Vs. SMB and Vs. Tetris both work FINE in the Ex-Popeye! I don't get it. Looks like the PSU is wired differently and the edge connector for the bottom appears to be wired differently as well.

Am I risking my boards by doing crap like this, and is there enough difference between the way these two cabs should be wired that Dr. Mario wouldn't work while the rest would!?

I find it unusual that all those other Unisystem games would work in there but that, but for what it's worth, Popeye used a different power supply from the other Nintendo games like DK, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Well.....S--T! :|

That's not good... I hate Popeye, I have no plans of it ever being Popeye again. :(

well for shits and giggles you can swap power supplies. see if the problem carries to the other cab.

Too much work. I have very limited free time, and I know from experience when I try to mess around with these things too much, I tend to screw them up. :p

Right now, I've got Vs. SMB running beautifully on this Popeye cab, so I'll just live with the burn-in and ...........................go get my kid OUT OF THE COIN DOOR.
