pop bumpers are now scoring.... just no sounds

I just picked up a solar ride(system1) by Gottlieb. I just read the score card and it said pop bumpers score 1000 points. The only time they ever did score is when one of the switches on a star rollover was staying engaged. They were scoring tons at that time. Fixed the star but pops dont score, cant say as to whether they ever did as I have had this for only a week. Everything else appears to be working/scoring fine. I checked the coils/switches on the pops but one of the 3 may or may not be missing one of the switch leafs as the other 2 have a single extra....no idea. I re-did the board connectors but nothing changed. Any help?
Also it is running a Pascal board if that makes any difference.... Thanks in advance

EDIT: now switches have been fixed still no sound when they are hit....anybody know what this might be?

Here are examples of Gottlieb pop bumper switches:

http://www.pbresource.com/pfbumpb.htm#switches

System 1 uses pop bumper switch assemblies with two sets of contacts. The high current set next to the spoon operates the coil. The other set (low voltage) activated by the movement of the yoke signals the game board to score points.

OK got the new switches installed no problem and they score yay! I did notice that they DO NOT make a noise when the are hit. Everything else on the PF registers a sound just fine. Any ideas on what this could be? I have the pascal board installed if it helps. THANKS!

I saw a few videos and it seemed they were making a noise. Seems odd when they dont make a sound. It sounded like the beep for 1000 pts.

@street - forward to around the 1:35 mark and it seems like they are triggering a noise. Maybe it is a common problem and we both have the same issue. Anyways I hope they dont make sound as I won't have to fix anything else on it........just need a better backglass. Thanks for your input BTW

yeah it does seem that way.. the video I posted seems to agree with me and the one you posted seems to agree that they do make a noise. I didnt see the bonus lights moving on the playfield so it wasnt that, the roll overs would have advanced it. sigh.. I just did all the mods like the battery, ground wires, and power supply cap. I had a problem with my bonus 4x light and the 10 point sounds not working and the mods helped me fix that. now I guess ill look into the pop bumpers.

Alright so I lifted my play field and there's two switches (leaf) attached. The lower ones are for score. If I hit mine during gameplay they make the sound but I can't get them to work from the pop bumper popping. Idk? I'll try adjusting them closer but there pretty close now

Alright so I turned my volume up a lot and you can hear it slightly imma check grounds now. If yours scores the 1000 then it should make the sound because it's on the same switch

Edit: changed the screws on sound board since mine were slightly corroded and added a ground wire just because. That did it for me. I had to turn the volume up slightly but there fully working and at the right sound now

Cool glad you got it figured, I will try that out in a bit and let you know if it is going good. Do you have the original boards etc? I couldnt imagine playing it without the pascal board now. I like the skill shot, high scores, chance, quick score countdown(so much better this way)etc. Makes it a little more exciting is all. THANKS

edit: ok checking it out, where did you put your ground? As far as the screws they just go into the wood so Im not messing with those. My connectors are a bit mucky maybe thats all I need? Wouldnt hurt to ground it just want to know where you did it as it makes sense now.

Seems to work when just hitting the switch but when the pop hits the switch it doesent work. Seems I may just need to ground it perhaps. Street let me know where you grounded the sound board to. Thanks

edit: I replaced the wood screws with nice shiny ones. Didnt do much but I twisted the volume pot and it seemed to be the issue as I just had to dial it in better......

If by chance anyone has a Ni-Wumpf board in their "Solar Ride", Ni-Wumpf has an announcement on their website about some bugs in their software pertaining just to Solar Ride. They have issued updated software to correct some program bugs:

May 5, 2014 - Ni-Wumpf has been alerted to a bug in the "Solar Ride" code that we have just updated our code to address. If you are using the new style System 1 board, you can send the board in for reprogramming free of charge. If you have the old style board, we have updated code release 3.52 available to you on the "Legacy CPU" section of the product page.
