A friend of mine works for a big utility company. He was out this past week knocking on doors and posting notices of upcoming utility work when he ran across this sight at someone's house...

That's one sad, dirty Tempest! And a Bally Space Invaders pin. Looks like they've been sitting on this patio for quite a while.

No one was at home. He made a note of the address for me. There might be a few salvageable parts left if I want to pursue it.

The Tempest looks pretty good considering the situation. It doesn't look puffed out or falling apart or anything.

Yeah from those pics it doesn't look like it's horribly damaged from the elements...too soon to say for sure it's a parts cab ya never know. :)

+1 on that. Looks in good shape. Those people would probably be happy to get that thing off their property for $25

My bet is they'd start at $1000. Something about wacky people and games like this, they think they have gold on their hands.

Go get it and bring a few hundred. Let them know you have concerns of the elements, corrosion on the boards etc. but would like to see them salvaged as the elements will destory them if left. Cash talks and if cheap enough get DPTWIZ to build you a new Tempest cab. Cabs can always be salvaged or parted.

This guy probably has it listed on Craigslist as "Non-Functional Tempest... only needs a $20 part to get it working again. My loss your gain...."

I agree. If it is clean, it has a ton of problems. If it is filthy, it almost always fires up. Its arcade voodoo 101.

In my experiences, guys that have machines like this think they are worth big money and it may be hard to get a deal on it... good luck!
