Ponpoko in NJ - Rare but not sure there is any demand

Original Cabinet as far as I can tell. I overpaid for it and am looking to sell.

Any interest?

Ponpoko is an awesome game. It's just so rare that hardly anyone knows of it.

There is also a really cool but hard-to-find version where you play as Mario and E.T. is the enemy:

Retro era postings about games like this are interesting. Back in 83ish we had a little arcade that was predominantly a high school lunch break style sandwich shop, called USS Enterprise.

They had all the second rate games that were atypical. Hunchback, red clash, crazy kong, ponpoko, etc including Reactor. Nothing at all was main stream. Now that arcade would be an elite collector interest if it were around. And we just thought of it as the hack arcade in town.

Looks like a modified Nichibutsu Crazy Climber.

Nichibutsu Crazy Climber

So apparently the cabinet is a Nichibutsu Crazy Climber cab. It has the original tag inside... more to come

how much would it really cost though? looks like you've got a work board and internals.

did this game come in a factory dedicated form?

Yes, I'm sure it did. I bought two dedicated PonPokos at an auction in Kansas back in like 1994. I think I have a marquee from one of them still and it's a nice marquee - that one looks homemade. I'm happy to scan it or whatever if someone wants to repro. Might have other artwork but would have to look.
