Pong Recreated!

He did?? The page linked only says he re-drew the schematics using a modern CAD package, based on the original Atari schematics. Says nothing about laying out or fabricating a PCB...

Heh, he did what tons of companies did 40 years ago. ;) It looks nice, but when I see it, I just have to ask... why? I'm sure it's fun and educational... but you could do the same thing on a TINY board with some programmable logic... quickly and cheaply.

I'm actually not sure that anyone has done Pong on an FPGA, true to the original schematics.

Yeah, it was wayyyy overly complicated for what it could have been, but then again, you see things like the Mimeo 1 and other products. I think it is a collector thing, and a fun project. Million better ways to handle this but I guess its not too bad of an idea.

Very cool
And now all we need is someone to do this to:
  • Star Wars
  • Lunar Lander
  • Black Widow
  • Battlezone
  • Star Trek
  • Gravitar
  • Major Havoc
  • Space Invaders
  • . . . . Lots
:D

Boy would that be nice! The truth of the matter is that I think the guy focused on Pong specifically because it had no CPU or ROMs, it was all TTL logic gates.

OK, that page shows a layout and a new PCB. But where are the Gerber files for the PCB?

I just realized he has the schematic file but not the board layout file available. Maybe email him?
