Hi, My Dad is thinking of selling his Pong in a Barrel game.
I used to play it when I was a kid. it still works and looks better than the photos show.
I'm looking to find information and a potential buyer. I could have put this in the for sale section but really I want to try to learn a bit before I sell it.
from what I've been able to gather there may only be a very few of these around and this may be one of an even smaller number that work.
here is the information my Dad has given me from the plate on the cash door:
BP0112
tv B2501529
Key 8273
APJ3QC
4-29-73
Pong
In-A-Barrel
Atari
Santa Clara, Ca.
(25¢)

here's a photo or two:

Where is this located you have no location and only 1 post.

it's in my Dad's back room in Southern California. and what are you getting at with the one post comment? are there lots of people faking Pong In-A-Barrel's? I'm just looking for info at the moment. If you're seriously interested we can discuss that too.
see now I have 2 posts

I'm interested in getting one, I'm starting a museum and that would be a really nice piece to have.

I couldn't find any info on where you were since you had no location and no other posts.

That is really a special find. I think there is only one other known instance of that game if I am correct... very neat piece for sure!

My Dad got this thing in the mid to later '70's from a friend who owned several arcade games in bars around the area. apparently this thing hasn't been any farther in it's life than the 200 mile or so trip from Santa Clara. I just joined, I'm not into collecting these, just the only info available is that there is only one other one around and I wasn't sure how up to date that info was. I'm hoping someone here can give us an idea of it's actual value and if it is that rare I can get the info from it for whoever is collecting such info and details.

It is super rare and has value for sure. What is the value is hard to say because of the rarity and lack of past sale data to reference. Is it worth $200? Sure is. Is it worth $2000? Only to the right buyer looking for obscure pieces. I would take lots of pics showing it working and throw it on ebay, you'll figure out what its worth real quick.

Is it an actual licensed by atari pong? Because there were tons of clones that are pretty much worth at most fitty dolla. If that is an atari inc. original then you really have something there.

Looks like it. You can see where it says "Atari" on the barrel.

Agree with what was said earlier. It's really hard to say what the market value of this thing would be, since others don't come up for sale...ever.

I'd throw it on eBay if you don't get a price offer you like. And take lots of pictures; this is a really neat find.

haha.... no others? Ask mclemore what he forked out for one of these in what I think was 2005. Very rare and cool game indeed. I am throwing an offer of $1k out there.

Yeah definitely take some more pictures and someone save them for a KLOV update. Nice to fill in the blanks once in a while.

Hey is that Plexiglas for the cover over the monitor? If it is Novus plastic polish will take the scratches out make it look a lot better.

If you post it on ebay and that is in fact an atari original I would make it an ebay front page featured auction. Meaning I would fork out hundreds of dollars in ebay insert fees to get that bad boy on the front page of the ebay homepage.

The only other one known, which was on eBay went for over $6500USD is I remember correctly.

Really nice piece :)

If you end up posting it on ebay, make sure you post a link to the auction, I would just want to watch and see what happens with it. That is just an awesome piece of history there!
