POLL: Did You Ever Play The Neo-Geo In The Arcade Back In The Day?

I'm just curious what the ratio is on this, as I never played the Neo-Geo in the arcade back in the day.

Did you?

What games do you remember playing?

:D

I remember playing Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug on single slot machines - they may have been conversions. I don't remember ever seeing the multi-slot machines and I would have likely avoided them assuming they were something like the timed PC-10 machines. I hated the timed PC-10 machines.

I find this interesting, as I fall into the camp of folks who never played one BITD. I'd say I never saw one either, but that's harder to prove, as I could have, and maybe it just didn't interest me at the time.

I do find it interesting that it's a system that so many folks are very into now, but I have no nostalgic connection to, and somehow it flew under my radar entirely as a kid. (Not saying they're bad, I just have no experience with them.)

NEO-GEO system was pretty popular here in Brazil. I played Fatal Fury and Art Of Fighting back in the day.

World Heroes 2 and SS a bit. These things were everywhere in metro Detroit. Every arcade had one, pool halls, bowling alleys, 7-11. Anywhere there were games.

For me it always took a back seat to SF2, MK2, and Addams pin but it was fun for a change of pace.

Absolutely; they were pretty common. Easy way for an operator to have several games with minimal space taken. Made me really want to pick up the home console version once it came out, since the games were the same, and quite good for the time.

I mainly played a few of the early games from the first couple of years it was out (i.e. Magician Lord, Bust a Move 2); didn't play it much beyond that.

Played alot of Shodown 1 and 2 as a teen. Was big into fighting games, but I still suck, lol.

I stopped going to the arcades before it came out. I do remember playing it at Numero Uno Pizza where I worked though...

Yep, played it for Viewpoint (it had awesome music at the time, IMO).

Wish Last Blade 1 & 2 was at the arcades, hands down the most atmospheric fighter for a good while, the music & effects in it was really well done.

Puzzle Bobble, metal slug , and samurai showdown where near me in a video rental place. I totaled up countless hours playing that machine. Good times [emoji41][emoji1303]

When I lived in southern California I mostly saw these in taco shops and convenience stores like 711. Never saw one in an arcade, but definitely played some while either waiting for a burrito to be made or after I already ate it. The two games I remember playing the most were Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug.
