I've installed a Police Trainer v1.5 in my LE1 cabinet, and have a few issues:

The guns don't produce hits on the screen. They flash but don't register hits. I have the little amplifier board between the gun and the PCB, should I remove it? The green and red LED's also flash constantly, a good sign?

I have to swap the horizontal sync because of the mirror, is this simple to do without clipping wires?

Thanks!

Try flipping your gun connections at the board. You may have them backwards. As far as flipping the monitor, I believe there is a way to flip it in the game settings.

Thanks, I did the recommended things and tested, no dice. Should the LEDs be blinking on the pcb?

I took off the little amp board and plugged in the guns directly. During calibration, if I rapidly fire each gun, it will register a hit once in a while. Weird...

If I remember right, I think mine is set at around 11 or 12. I would just go through the numbers and see if you can get the guns to register consistently.

No you didn't. ;) There are 4 known version of PT roms: 1.0, 1.1, 1.3, 1.3B, and 1.3B "newer". ALL of them say "Police Trainer Version 1.5" on the screen during attract mode. This is NOT the version of the roms, it's part of the illusion that the game is a police training simulator. To see the actual version of your ROMs, look at the EPROM labels, or enter test mode; it will say "SOFTWARE VERSION" at the top of the screen.

It should work with and without that little PCB. It was ostensibly there to improve gun accuracy.

AFAIK, that's "normal" for PT. I haven't noticed any pattern, nor have I found any documentation describing their function.

I think you're referring to the horizontal yoke wires. But you do not need to mess with them at all. PT was designed to work in both direct-view and mirrored cabinet, like your LE cab. One of the dipswitches controls the mirroring of the image (consult the manual).

I think I'm going to have to flip the monitor all together, as the picture is reversed and upside down. I can get it to just upside down which means I can flip the monitor and be cool. Unless there are some wires I can flip. :)

I will mess with this some more soon, I have a Galaga that has a extra current running through a wire messing with the video, as well as running through the control panel. Fun weekend so far.

I'll have to switch around something to get the picture right side up. I may just rotate the whole monitor so I have better access to the chassis. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1346608405.954510.jpg

Sounds like it may have been rotated backwards over the years. A properly installed monitor in a LE cabinet provides decent access to the chassis. Maybe you could post a pic looking in the back of the cabinet.

Welp, I rotated the monitor and saw it was definitely not rotated prior; the frame configuration wouldn't allow it.

So I moved the bars over, reinstalled the monitor and got a correct picture. The guns register one shot in 10 on the calibration screen, no matter what way they're plugged in. I'm thinking it may be the guns?

I had one bad gun and it didn't work at all. It wouldn't even register. I would at least make sure the lenses are clean. Did you end up changing the flash brightness at all?

Yep, 1 or 20, I couldn't get them to register a hit. I'll check the lenses. The tube is a bit dim, does that make a difference?
