Police Trainer "Flash" able to be turned off?

Hey guys...

I was planning on picking up a "Police Trainer" for my wife as she likes shooting games & I have the opportunity to get one (PT). The issue is, she's sensitive to a lot of bright flashing/strobing lights and looking on youtube, there's definitely a lot of white flashes when two players are firing a ton.

Seeing as it's an optic gun game, the white flashes are integral to the game's operation, right? There's no menu option to disable this effect, correct?

If I can't disable it, it won't work for her, I think. Which sucks.

The "flash" is how the optical guns "see" the when/where to put a virtual bullet. There is no way to turn it off.

Yeah... if she likes shooters the only real option (aside from a Joystick shooter like Terminator 2 where the "guns" are actually just joysticks that twist) is a newer game that uses LED's for their guns ala the Wii...

Some monitors the flash is more noticeable than others. If you have access to other monitors that you can test with, you may find one that it is less noticeable.

There are other games that don't use flashing lights.... I believe HOTD2 is one of them... Jurassic Park: Lost World, and some of the newer Namco shooters Vampire Night, Time Crisis 3
HOTD2 and JP:LW have LEDs around the monitor, and Vampire Night has a camera looking twords the guns.

I actually have Lost World and Vampire Night sitting in my storage unit... Lost World needs work, but Vampire Night has worked fine from the little I've used it before throwing it in storage
(In the process of buying a house.... considering selling one of them to help me cover the expenses of a house... but at the same time trying to avoid it because having room for my games is why I'm buying a house in the first place.)

Lost World actually does use optical guns I believe. It does flash... not whole screen flashing like the olderschool gun games but the area you are aiming flashes...

Random fact:

Taito's 1993 UNDER FIRE was the first to pioneer handheld guns with infrared tracking, eliminating white screen flash and able to support rapid fire effects. Sadly, the game wasn't much of a hit and finding a working specimen today is rare.

Odd... Under Fire isn't even listed here on KLOV.

Very strange. Put in UNDER FIRE in the search... no go.

Put in UNDER in the search... no UNDER FIRE listed.

Search by manufacturer TAITO... you find... UNDER FIRE?!?

Something is broken.

it's in there, but won't come up on a search. that's how elusive it is.

Yeah, I just reported the issue. I wonder how many OTHER games aren't popping up with the search?

I've noticed this with some other games. Searching for the title on KLOV gives no results but Googleing the title plus "KLOV" brings it right up.
