My Pole Position developed a video issue last night.

It has worked perfectly for several yeas since Dick worked on the boards.

Yesterday the graphics come up slightly garbled.

There is an line under each letter.

The game still plays.

I pulled the boards out, reset the interconnector, pressed on socketed chips etc. but have not done anything else.

Does anyone have an idea of what i should check next?

I have not checked the voltages yet.

to me it still looks like a bad socket issue. i would pull the chips and reseat them, sometimes just pushing on them doesn't do the trick. pole position is notorious like galaga for bad sockets.

Hi,
when I do a repair of a PP boardset, every socket is new. Always preferring sockets with machine pins, some hate them cause they are very hard to solder out.
When the pcb runs, you never have socket problems for the next 20 years. Costs about 40,--EUR and a lot of time and a lot of coffee.

Hi,
forgot to show you a bit of my work.
(The last picture is not the Z80 socket).
For one pcb I need about 3 evenings, every session 2h. Without "resocket" of both pcbs I don't spend any time in measuring.

Greets to All

All Better Now

I went thru the socketed chips on the video board and pried them up from each end, and pushed them back in.

The corrupted graphics have gone and away and everything looks gone again

thanks

yes, pp is as bad as galaga. both have really crappy sockets. nice work.
