Lost my +5v to my pole position boards and nothing else, traced it back to a loose wire coming out the top of the transformer assembly, right underneath that copper shield. How do i get in there to fix it?

alot of people replace the +5 in PP with a switcher power supply to avoid many of the problems w/ these boards and power supplies..

you could put in a switcher.. and wire the +5 to the board connector in the same spot, as well as the +5 test points on the board to distribute the +5 evenly and avoid burning the edge connector in the future..

lots of threads on it I believe...

my +5v is soldered right into the board, never really had a problem with it. Just this transformer wire is loose.

Not that it *can't* be done, but usually if a wire breaks off like that, its time to just replace with another. Gotta be plenty of Atari power bricks around, in fact I think there were some pole position parts for sale recently. You're going to pay a little for shipping since its heavy but thats your best bet I think.
