Pole Position Test Switcher?'s Also Interconnect Board w/pics

Okay in one of my other threads I smoked a couple of pole position boards. I know I smoked the two ar2-1's. I also smoked at least one of the main boards. I don't see any damage on cpu board or the video.

My intent is to test the pole boards with out the ar2's. Hear are some snaps of where im at.

1) The interconnect board between the cpu and vid. Can it be put in backwards/upside down and still work. The only difference I see on the interconnect board is a B on one end. This worries me...

2) If I have read up correct I can disconnect all the plugs except J5 (the 15 pin on the brick). Then hook up +5 and Grd on both boards with the switcher.

3) Will I still be able to power my monitor on like this? You see it doesn't say if I should plug in both the switcher and the brick at the same time. Or should I leave the brick unplugged? It seems to me that both would need to be plugged in.

Again all I want to do is fire up the boards with no ar2's... What is the safest way to do this?

Also the foam on the back of the interconnect board is totally gone along with the foam in between the cpu a video board. This foam is there to stop you from grounding the boards together and also so you can't ground the interconnect board to the back of the cage.

I have looked all around the house for something to put in its place but cannot think of nothing. Any ideas on what I could use that might be safe and laying around the house?

Mouse pad... That Priceless Ken Awesome. That will work and I have a box of them!

Okay so I couldn't wait and I hooked up the switcher and promptly blew the little 3a fuse shit. I don't have any more of those err...

I also hooked up the brick at the same time with everything plugged into the brick but nothing plugged into the ar2's. (don't ask me why)

Anyway the pole position switcher mod pdf from star*tech looks like shit.

Anyone have a better looking copy?

Now I found how Kent Murphy hook up his pole position.

I have been following that trying to get my boards up and running. Does any one know what and what should not be plugged in to used the switcher to test?

Any ideas on why the fuse went on the switcher? Could this be it?

On the motherboard.....the zener diode in the power input section. A classic failure of a shot edge connector.

Edward

My edge connectors look really good...

How can I test zener? I know I have others around here on spare board sets so I can replace it. If I can jack one from another board.

I hope all this makes sense...
