Sorry for the second post. I didnt relize there was a sepearte one for help needed.. Here is my problem
I bought a upright Pole Position a while back that was working for a little while. It started having issues where the screen would look like it was syncing properly. I started messing with the horizonatal ajustments on the monitor and ended up blowing that monitor.. I replaced montor with a Well Gardner monitor and had same issues. I also have second pcb that was put in to test and had same issues.. I am ataching a video showing the issue. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it..I am its something simple here... Thanks Bryan

Sync problems.

Did you try to adjust the vertical and horizontal sync. ?

Are you sure the H- and V sync are not switched around ?

Are you sure you have a good ground wire to the video connector ?

I did try ajusting the Horizntal and vertical. The videos are showing the best I could get out of ajusting. The original monitor had the same issue. When I started messing with the pods on the monitor thats when the first monitor went black on me.. You mention the ground..Are you talking the video ground is that the one that is attached to the cage from the monitor?

what wells gardner monitor do you have in there? what was the one in there before and how did you hook up the rgb/sync wires to the new monitor?

Yea it looks like your PCB is working, it is most certainly a sync issue. You mentioned that it was working properly, then started having issues. The question would be did the other monitor display the same as the WG? It is possible that a hold pot or the like took a crap in your original monitor, then when it was switched out to the WG, the sync wires were not hooked up correctly.

Also, does the WG monitor work properly in other cabs?

I ended up blowing the fuse in the monitor last night grounding something out. I hope I didnt mess something more serious up on the monitor. The monitor is a Wells gardner 19k4901

Monitor is up and running again and I am starting back to the basics here. I put a temp harness on the monitor cage so I can swap wires and not ground out the monitor again. Does any one have a conversion chart for monitor hook up. Example PP wire color red white goes to pos sync on the monitor..... I pulled up the pin layout but things are not making sence to me...Example here is the pin layout I found it is for pp2
1 Ground A Ground
2 +5 volts B +5 volts
3 (ground) C (ground)
(keyway)
4 (ground) D (ground)
5 (ground) E (ground)
6 (ground) F (ground)
7 (ground) H (ground)
8 (ground) J (ground)
9 Red K (ground)
10 Green L (ground)
11 Composite sync (inverted) M (ground)
12 Blue N (ground)
13 Video return P (ground)
14 + sense R (+5 volts)
15 - sense S (ground)
My monitor hook ups are starting from the front

Red
blue
green
ground
pos v sync
pos h sync

Next plug
ground
neg v sync
neg h sync

I am asuming PP 1 AND 2 use the same vid hook up
Thanks Bryan

Pole I & II are the same board and all the hookups are the same, they use composite sync from pin 11 unless someone has done a board mod, try the sync on both + & - sync leads, if neither work then I would suspect the board set has a problem or you have a bad wire going from the board to the monitor, also strap a ground directly from the power supply ( or board ) to the ground on the monitor, if the ground lead isn't there it will definitely affect the sync.

Game is up and runing. What I was doing is counting the pinouts incorrectly. I also had to replace the 4amp fuse in the monitor as noted in my prior post. I discharged the monitor several times and still managed to wake my self up with a little zap. The Wells is ovioisly configured differently then the Pole Position original plug layout. I was counting 9 spaces on pin layout asumming the purple wire was my starting point after the grounds.. Anyway game is running good with board 1. Board 2 has some graphic issues originaly missing all the background and the start line also car is missing. I reset the chips and got all the clouds and the start line. I am still missing the car so I will keep poking around.. If someone has some tips or know what socket that rom is in and where I can get it I would appreciate it... Thats about it for tonight... Thanks for all the help Bryan

Glad to hear you got it straightened out! Do you have the prom that will save your high scores? If not, do a search in this forum for what to get - it is key for making the game more interesting.

AS far as your other board, I quit trying to troubleshoot these bloody things long ago, now I just send them to Mr. Millikan (he posted previously).

Have fun!

Does anyone happen to know where I can get replacement monitor shroud for my Pole Position? Mine is sagging pretty bad and not looking good on the sides either.. Maybe someone has a fix.. Email me or I will catch up with you on here...
