I just got my PPII board back from Dick and now its on to the rest of the game.. The shifter wasn't working, so I took it apart. The red plastic plunger that hits the microswitch is broken and doesn't move. Are these available or whats the workaround for it? The housing is in good shape and so is the shifter..

Is that a retrofit kit? Mine doesn't look anything like that setup.. or is mine just that butchered...

i have used the small roofing nails , with the shaft cut down...

also while its apart stretch the spring that presses the ball so you have a tighter shifter....

Thanks guys.. I'll go for upgrade kit and stretch the spring. I did notice if I pushed down on the shifter, it shifted easier.. Stretching the spring should take care of it, or should I add a spacer into the base of the stick to take up the slack??

I think I'll try this until I get the kit..

I also think the throttle isn't working properly.. is it a pot or optical? I haven't looked at that yet..

Its a pot, make sure the cable that runs from the pedal to the pot is connected properly before pursuing it further.

whoa stretching the spring will make it HARDER to shift.. ie it will stick in the selected gear better..

If yours already feels like its firm in each gear i wouldnt mess with the spring...

mabey clean and lube everything in there while its apart.. Youd be amazed howe much dirt, pop, and scum builds up insode of those...

also check the plastic trim ring that holds the shifter in.. they tend to break the threads off where the bolts screw in.. so if your ordering parts and yours is broke, nows the time to get a replacement.

+1

While I was working on mine (bad switch) I went ahead and cleaned everything because the shifter was hard to move to begin with (like your's). Since everything is black, I didn't think it was that dirty... took 5 paper towels to get to cleaned up, they were all completely black when I got done with them. Put a little gun grease on it to keep it lubed, and it feels brand new now...

Honestly, I wish there was a kit for the steering wheel to ADD a little friction, make it feel a little realer... but alas.

But, yeah... clean the bejebus out of it and you'll be amazed at the difference.

mine was disgusting inside.. I sprayed it with spray nine and scrubbed it with a toothbrush to get the funk off it. I used lithium grease on the ball track and spring and its still a bit stiff. Do you lube the top of the shifter at all? I was thinking about vaseline or something along those lines, but don't want to attract funk either. I have some dry lube that may be better. I noticed that if I push down on the shifter, it goes a bit smoother. Thats why I was thinking about stretching the spring a bit. The track the ball rides in appears to be a bit worn...

I'm planning on looking at the throttle tonight and see whats up with that. It doesn't feel right. Maybe something bent or jammed under the pedal.

This machine was found on a street corner in front of a laundromat. It was filled with lint, grime and other assorted funk. It appears they probably scrapped the machine because it would have been too expensive to pay a tech to fix all the problems with it.

I'm putting together a Mouser order and was going to order a pot for the throttle. Not sure if I need it yet, but I'm placing an order anyway for a few other things.. I found its a 5K pot, but not sure of the wattage... Any idea on specs?

use the nyogel you bought from ram controls and look in the manual on where to lube everything up and you should be fine.

Best replacement I have found is from happ. Part 50-8026-02
has the corrct shaft length and shape so it fits just like the original and it is a long life pot.

I guess I'll wait until I dig into the throttle to see if I need any of the springs or cables.. I guess thats tonights project.. I've got a small mouser order I was trying to bulk up with a few extra pieces.. right now I think shipping is more than the other parts I need :(

I got everything cleaned, and painted most of the metal parts... Machine is starting to look like something.. I temporarily used the roofing nail trick and it works great.. I may just shelve the ebay kit I ordered.. Still need to do some cosmetic stuff to it..

Is there a HS save kit for this? Mine isn't saving scores..

Dashboard decals-- I have a PPI cab with a PPII board kit. I need a dashboard decal and a new CPO. I like the PPII dashboard better.. Who sells these items?

T-molding - Is that just standard 3/4"?
