So I have Pole Position #207 (just got ir running today thanks to a new board) There's some textured paint on the side (the gray part). Is that normal or did someone paint it that way?

question #2: Is this rubber strip thing normal above the control panel?

last question: is it normal for the game to star as soon as you drop a quarter in? I don't remember it doing that but I am remembering back to the 80's since the last time I've played it. If you put more than one credit in, it starts the next game as soon as the first one ends.

Hey congrats on the PP.

The colors are correct (factory) but normally that silver part is smooth like the rest of the art. I'm not sure why only that part would be textured. I was thinking maybe it was something they did for awhile when they first started production that only early serial-numbered cabs would have.

No, someone installed that to hide cigarette burns.

Yes all normal. Keep it on coin-op. :)

You are right, there's a ton of burns under that icky strip.

If it's normal for it to start the game right away (which even the manual says it does), when do you select the track? One the glass bezel it says to turn the wheel to select the track and hit the accelerator to start. But it always starts on Fuji?

One other question, in the sound test, do 9, 14 and 15 just make really fast noises that you can't really tell what they are or am I missing sounds? There's no sound at all on 18.

Pole Positon (I) only has 1 track, Fuji.

You have a Pole Position II bezel on there (PPII has 4 tracks).

Both of my Pole Positions have textured silver on the side, I think its just the nature of the printing because of the pseudo-metallic look.

Ah! OK that makes sense :) That's what I get for going on 30 year old memories. Thanks.

Sure thing. Enjoy it.

Ah that sounds familiar, I was thinking cwales' art had rough-textured silver area on the sides, but if we're talking about a light dimpled type of feel, then that sounds normal. I sold my PP upright awhile back otherwise I'd go check it out myself (I have a Euro PPII now).
