Just picked up a Pole Position and got it home fairly late last night. The monitor has a wicked roll/hula with sync seeming to go in and out and very washed out colors so its gonna need a lot of work. I work out of town all week, so thought I would just pop the back cover off the cabinet and see what monitor it was to prepare for working on it next weekend. It was late and I had to be on the road at 5a.m. this morning so didt take more than a couple seconds to look.

I have never seen this type of monitor before..I have 46/4900, and G07's in all other raster games. I wish I wrote down the numbers but didn't, and hope the one part I did notice will allow others to identify it for me so I can do some research on the road. If you are looking at the back of the chassis, it has a pcb sticking up on the left side of the monitor that is perpendicular to the monitor direction. On this board I noticed 3 pots in my quick look that were brightness, contrast, and then what looked like 'B'. The reason I noticed this right away is there were 3 green wires soldered to the center leg of the pots to another place on this small pcb in front of the pot. The brightness and 'B' wires were disconnected though. I have no idea if these wires are supposed to be there or not as they really didn't look like a half decent factory job. Anyways, does anyone know what monitor this might be? Hoping I can find some pics of the back online and a manual.
thnxs.

Sounds like the Matsushita monitor. The board sticking up in the back is also where the video harness plugs into, right? If you look at the main chassis, you'll notice more than half of it is blank. That's because it's essentially a stock TV chassis that's been constructed without the tuner, sound, and NTSC decoding sections.

Thanks!
i'll look for a pic now and see if it was.. yes the chassis was mainly blank.. can remember that because when I was talking to the guy I was trading, I was explaining a capkit to him (which I had done on the Defender cocktail I was trading) and when I went to point for an example noticed the large area with not much of anything anywhere....

You can get a capkit for it, and you may also want to get a primary cap (the largest cap) to fix the hula problem. Should be an easy fix and despite its reputation, they seem to work good.

I've got tons 'o caps around so i'll be doing them all.. have to get a manual and see what the value is for the big one as those are usually oddballs. This is one of the worst monitors I have ever seen aside from completely dead so it will be interesting to see if just caps bring it back.. The hula is more like the effect from the 80's on tv when someone is reminiscing or drifting into a dream and they did that wave on the sides of the screen.. its pretty severe... if that fails I found a couple nos G07's.. :p
