i replaced the 25 amp 32v slow blow fuse and the game ran awesome... then it seems an excess of heat builds up in the fuse holder and ultimately blows the fuse. it's the fuse that powers the boards. any ideas? thanks

i had a fuse that powers the boards that worked on and off. It ended up being the fuse block it self, they are prone to failure. The tab that connects to the plastic plate was loose and causing a bad connection. It wouldnt blow the fuse but would work on and off.

the fuse holder was not original. so would that cause the excess heat? you can see even the old one was cooked!

That fuse is common to burn on all classic Atari games. When replacing it....make sure a good solid connection is made. I will usually solder the wire straight to the fuse block. Those "quick connect" connectors just arn't beefie enough for the power draw at that fuse. Any brittle/burnt wiring from the previous burn needs to be cut out. You must have good clean copper. I'd also pull that entire transformer assembly and check the underside. There's a bridge under there, and the bottom of that big cap......it common to have burnt wiring/connects on those, too.

well i went to check it out, the bridge rectifier looked like it was generating too much heat, i replaced that and replaced the entire fuse block and connectors. turned it on and played for 45 mins. whoohooo!
