I'm still trying to figure out rebooting issues my PP II cockpit is having at home so I brought the boards into the store to throw into my upright to let them run a bit and make sure the problem isn't with the boards. I set it the dip switches to 1 quarter 1 credit, like all the games in the store and it boots to this:

I tried reseating the interconnect thing, checking voltages, etc and everything seems fine. Switched it back to freeplay and it's good. Switched it back and it's the same.

Has anyone ever had such a thing happen? What can it be? On freeplay I tried other dip switch settings and it boots just fine and the settings all change so I don't think it's a problem with dip switches. Test switch doesn't show anything wrong.

I have a feeling he'll be getting this board soon. It's just frustrating because I bought it as working.. but stuff happens and I should expect it from PP..

The board I have running in my upright is one I bought from Dick and it's been on 10 hours a day, 6 days a week for months with no issues what so ever.

So you ended up sending yours in? You never said what happened in that thread.. Has it been good since sending it to Dick?

It worked fine and he didn't charge me for repairs as he was the one that repaired it the first time. I sold the game a few weeks after getting the board back. The guy who bought it has it for sale in the FS section right now and it seems to be working fine still.

Just wondering if you ever figured this out. When I got mine running I decided to change the dips. I had a PP manual and set them to what I thought was right. When I powered on I got the exact same screen. It would start up and make the boom noise and freeze in the exact same screen. Turns out dip #8 on 9JA if turned to on is screen freeze. I forget which table it is exactly in the manual but this is the same dip bank that controls pricing and going by the manual some settings show dip 8 as on which is wrong.

Set yours according to the settings listed on the museum: http://www.arcade-museum.com/dipswitch-settings/9064.html

I jsut got around to looking at this board again. You were right about these not matching the manual settings. I changed that dip switch and it seems to be working.. That is it booted. Now to see if it resets. My speech problem (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=212371) is still going on though. I'll have to redo the socket that the speech chip is in and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the great tip :)
