Hey there, I am new to working on video games and have a pole position upright cabinet. I was looking for some tips to get started on refurbishing it. I want to strip it down and put new side art on it that I found on the net. What is the best way to strip the old art off of it? Also what kind of black paint should I use on the front of it? Any info would be great.

how bad is the side art? my advice is to invest as little as possible if it's your first game. does it work? if not concentrate on that first that may be costly from the beginning.

stripping the cabinet

I was wondering the best way to strip the side adhesive from a pole position cabinet. Would a heat gun be the best way to remover the sticker?

The front of the cab is black vinyl. You would do best replacing it with some from thisoldgame.com or something similar. I second Phet's advice on the heated decal remover. The are inexpensive but they are cheeply made. I would recomend buying a hand full of them. They dont last long.

Thanks for all the tips. I ordered some of the decal removers and will get some vinyl for the site. any recommendations on how to prep the cabinet before putting on the new decals and vinyl? Should I sand and paint everything first? I also want to get a new overlay for the control panel. Any ideas on how to get the old one off? Thanks again for all the help.
