I have some Pole Position boards that are almost there.

The first is a CPU board that has some sprites issues. I am assuming its a ROM issue. Any ideas which ROMs might be the problems?

The second is a video board that has vertical lines throughout the picture.

Any pointers?

Anyone have a listing that maps the ROMs in MAME to the ones on the boards? My CPU board has ones in the 18x range, but MAME does not...

Edit: It would appear that I have a PP-II CPU board... :)

I guess that would explain the strange characters... :D

The CPU board says Pole Position on it.

Is it supposed to say Pole Position or Pole Position II? If I swap out the ROMs, is that all i need to do? And if so, which chips go where?

Not as far as I can tell.

I know that some of the custom chips are shit (IE, legs fell off), so I know what some of the issues are (no backround track anymore unless I push hard on one of the chips.

Trying to head down to Millikan to get it fixed today... I hate Pole Position... :D

OT: ask him how my Crazy Climber boardsets are coming along while you are there if you would please.

Dick Millikan pointed me in the right direction...

If I take Pin 5 on one of the PROMs (8m I believe), low, the lines go away. Swapped out that PROM and still have the issue, so debugging further...

The interesting thing is that the PROM literally fell apart when I removed it...

So now I have a fully working PPII PCB and a fully working PPI Video board... :)

shilo my pole position board works fine except the graphics are pixelated. everything shows up fine and works but the damn pixelated-ness makes me mad. any ideas?

no but imagine taking a picture and resizing it and it comes out pixelated. thats what one of my pcbs does. the other just displays all kinds of zeros on a black screen. i have two cabinets im tryin to fix
