Pole Position...enough said

Good price, you say?

Look at the price when you've got it working ;)

PPs are a pain to fix. Or so I've heard. I overpaid for one some guy had completely rewired. It's run perfectly ever since, even when it's moved.

I had 2 non working pp's.

With some guidance from frizz, I ran a wire loop on both of the boards connecting all the grounds on one board to each other (at the test points on the board) and all the +5v's to each other. Did it on both boards.

Then I ran the wires to a switchingpower supply, and all of a sudden I have 2 working pole positions.

I did find that testing the voltage at the switcher was a problem though. When I had the switcher set to +5.1 only +3.84 was getting to the test points on the boards, so I kept cranking up the voltage till I got 5.12 at the test points, and it's been golden ever since.

That's what had been to mine.

Hey Tron Guy... do you have your switcher wired to your harness or did you wire it directly to the +5 loop via a molex connector as I suggested?

Big problems:

1. Battery. If its still there, get rid of it. Use baking soda to neutralize any acid leakage.

2. Power supply. As mentioned above, connecting a switcher directly to the test points is the best way to go.

3. Matsushita monitor. Can't really help there, unless you have a spare monitor around.

BTW: Was that Mats monitor used in other Atari games or just Pole? I think I may have seen one in a Xevious, but I don't remember for sure.
