Hey guys,
I've been putting this off for a while but now I need to address the problem...

My Pole Position 2 don't work!

I got it as part of a trade and was told it was restored close to 10 years ago, and it's in OK shape. The boards say they were rebuilt by Eldorado games on 01'.
Anyway, when I turn it on All I get is the garbled blocky creap on the screen with "ROM 30" & "ROM 25" on top of the screen...which I have already replaced

It has gotten worse since I fist saw the game. I used to be able to actually play the game and now it's unplayable.
I suspect a power issue but I don't know enough about working on them to be able to figure it out for my self so I hoped someone here could shed a little light for me.
I included some pics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, ERIC

Eh.. I wouldn't call that a problem. I'd call it "normal" for Pole Positions...

Yeah, sounds like a power problem. The power distribution in that game is horrible. Check the edge connectors on the boards for burnt contacts. Check the power at both game boards and ensure you're getting 5v - you have to check both of them, they each run of their own AR-II.

Of course, there could still be something wrong with the boards themselves - but always start with checking the power supply, ESPECIALLY in Pole Position.

Thank for the info Ian,

How would I go about checking the 5V? I have a DM but to this point I've NEVER had to check volatages in any of my 12 games (knock on wood) so I'm not quite sure how to do it...yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Turn the meter ON, and select DC volts. Put the black lead on the GND test lug, and the red lead on the +5v test lug.
