Hello,

Looking for some ideas to try.

I just got a Pole Position and a PP2.

Both have steady voltages on the cpu and video boards steady at 4.96.

The PP1 has the 5v mod done to it.

The games did previously work. But Pole Position is prone to having problems.
Neither one of them are playing blind. No sounds are heard.

My first question is both have G07 monitors in them. The PP1 had the A connector (White) used for video and the PP2 had the B (Red) connector in use. I tried the B connector on PP1 and it made no difference. I actually saw less of a picture then the A connector. Since PP2 somewhat had a picture I figured that to be the right connector.

Does the connectors look right on either of these?

I'm thinking right off the bat replace the big blues since they are old.

Any input would be great!

Thanks.

2 PP'S IN 1 THREAD! Well I think the issue is coming for your boards. Replacing the big blues is always good but it's 50/50 whether you fix the issue. The pcbs are really difficult to find parts for. One of the G07's looks like it may need a rejuv.

Looks like pic 1 is no horizontal sync. So its hard to see whats going on there. It kind of looks like a standard PP1 no z80 start. But I would try to figure out why there is no sync? I don't have much advice for that, Is it the monitor?

the other one looks kind of like a no z80 start on PP2. But maybe with some more trash than usual? Either way Do the standard PP repairs steps. Remove any battery still installed, Clean the boards of any leaked battery acid. Check components near the battery for damage. Repair broken traces and via holes that were damaged from acid.

I would say the large majority of bad pole positions is from battery damage. Remember, even if the board worked previously and no battery was there the acid can still damage the board over time. If it isn't cleaned properly, it will keep eating away at the copper.

Thanks for all the responses. I pulled the pp2 board and it was very clean. Reseated and pushed on all socketed chips and reseated the interconnect board.

The game fired right up.

I couldn't adjust out the scroll. I'm thinking I need to either tie the negative vertical and horizontal syncs together. Or replace the big blue. I'll try tying sync together first.

Re-pinned the horizontal and vertical neg sync connector. Header pins are solid.

Can't get the horizontal hold under control. Still scrolling vertically. New big blues, rebuilt ARIIs. This is the only thing holding me back. Tried jumping the neg syncs and that made it worse.

G07 monitor any input would be awesome.
