Anyone else have a problem with their Pole II board where the acceleration curve is not matched with the actual speed of the car in 1st gear? Dick Millikan is currently trying to find the problem and is thinking it's a programming issue with Pole II boards. Says he has 4 that all do the same thing.

This really sucks, because the game is a pain in the ass to play with the sound being so out-of-step with the gameplay.

Here's a video of the issue:

Does the car do this in MAME too?

...answering a bit of my own question here, but it seems if you don't floor it off the start, the acceleration curve is relatively normal. Is the game "punishing" the player for mashing the pedal to the floor?

That'd be great. Could you floor it during the red light section of the start and leave it floored in low? That'll tell me if yours does what mine does.

Don't know how good the quality is on this one. The only camera I could find.

Anyway as you can hear mine is different than yours. Mine sounds like what a formula 1 car would sound like if you revved the motor and dumped the clutch. I don't know who's is correct though. I don't think I've ever played one that sounded like yours though..

Ok so yours is doing almost the same thing, and pp1 doesn't do it. In low, watch you speed compared to the engine sound. The sound maxes out, yet the car gains about another 40mph with no change in engine rpm. I am going to have to agree with Dick on this one; pp2 has an inherent programming bug!

This is the main reason I can't stand PPII. The acceleration and clutch/shifting winding sound are all wrong. Of course I sent both my boards to Dick recently and he got my Pole II up and running no prob. But he sent my Pole boards back to me in worse shape than they left. I now have jumper wires all over my cpu, the steering still doesn't work and now all of my text is garbled and the game is full of graphic glitches. I am sure there is a published Murphy's Law that covers this ironic situation. So I get to wait another 3 weeks to get my favorite game back to 100%, while I am forced to fill the void with it's bastard cousin.

Mine is the same as 1badV6's video. While the revs are off in low gear, I still prefer the extra tracks of PPII

I dunno, I saw a thread on here where someone was messing with the free play options for PP2 along with other things by making code changes, maybe they could work on this first. Fixing bugs vs. enhancements would make sense to me. Heck I'd pay to have the acceleration garbage fixed.

I have a Pole cockpit and played a II cab a few weeks ago and knew it just was not right, now I know why.
