This is a side project I have been messing with on and off as time allows. I used bondo, an orbital sander and oil-based white paint to get my scratched, broken cornered, nicotine stained, water swelled Pole Cockpit looking pretty spiffy. As there is no concrete source for the artwork yet, this will have to do:

I still have the back and the other side to go. I'll get pics this weekend of the new roof that Chris and I vinyled and installed.

Wow. Looks great. I'm going to be getting a spy hunter cockpit soon, and it'll be great when I can get going on my PP2 cockpit project so I can have them side by side.

Hey thanks Shan. I also installed new BL carpet in the floor. It was a sample I ordered from Astrocarpet. It was the perfect size, just had to do a little cutting for the pedal area/ coin door column. I also still have to refinish the coindoor and install the repro steering decal. This is always one of my most popular games

phet, could you tell me please where you got those repro steering decals from?

and by the way: i love your cockpit and the work you have done on it. how did you get that blue t-molding in the slots in the middle? have you taken your cockpit apart?

I was wondering about the carpet actually. Clever! I'm going to be getting black light carpet early next year so maybe I'll do the same thing. :)

Thanks. And kinda. I took it apart part way to remove the roof and to replace the vinyl on the inside of the upper cab sides, next to the roof. You can just slide in the new tmold though. It takes a little patience and a thin flat tool to slide in there to flatten it down in the slot, but it is doable without disassembly.

Looks great !! I love the blue T-molding, I might have to do mine like that. Now all you need is to finish that topper scan I gave you. It'll be finished. You also need to remove that PPII dash sticker or find the missing one for the other side. :D LMK if you want your pedals replated to look like this. I can have them done across the street from work. http://www.arcadeaddiction.com/pedals/poleafter.jpg

Hey thanks for the complement and thanks for the offer. Gimme some time on the pedals. I do need to revisit the topper some day soon.

wow, shawn, that rocks. i would not normally buy a PP cockpit but if that was for sale i would hands down. you are a master of your craft. and the blue t molding rocks, too.

whats wrong w/ that art you put on? you print it yourself?

looks great.. I need to fix mine up.. it works great.. just need to get it cleaned up and looking great..

some mysterious way, my back window got broke.. dunno how.. came into the room one day and it was cracked ....

That is the original art. The back corner had a large triangle of particle board busted out, the bottom was all ratty and peeling, the white was yellowed, the top edge was missing vinyl and the back edge was swelled and bumpy. What you see is my attempt to 'restore' the original art using bondo, my orbital sander and feathering in oil-based white paint. I wish I had a 'before pic', but none of the ones I have highlight the damage and wear very well.

As for the backglass, have a pice of acrylic cut to size, have the mounting holes drilled, then have it curved with heat.

Check with rikitiki (ThisOldGame.com). I'm not sure if he has the cockpit version available at this point, but he does have scans of it at least.
