The gameplay is meh. It's mostly repetitive, addictive and halfa**ed. Gameplay mechanics could of had a little bit more depth added to it. It makes sense they went with Freemium, get it into the most hands as possible.
The concept was novel and was bound to happen. I can appreciate that the game getting people out of the house to explore. But, outside of overcrowded parks, it doesn't reward you enough for exploring clever public places off a street. Ironic, because playing this game on the road or near heavy traffic is the worst possible thing to do on your phone, but the best way to catch them all.
The game needed to have more intelligent locations for pokemon to appear. Having them show up on others property and placing gyms in private locations is just stupid. Could of taken more time to do research. That's shame on the developers, for being too lazy on such a massive game map.
Hope to see other developers do something better with the concept.
Algorithms generate what's going on around you, what is where, etc for the most part. It's only as intelligent as that. I don't play it, but I work with people that do. Hearing 30 something year old men say "I caught a pookiechoo" and "Let's set a trap by this stop sign and be on the same team" is pretty goofy.
