I didn't see that this news had been posted yet.

I saw this on the Arcade Projects forum. I pulled these pics and the article from a member.

Then the crazy weird part is @only68s was there a couple days prior picking up my Disco CRT /chassis that John fixed on the fly as well as picking up one of his projects. While there he sent me these pics, almost the exact same angle as the one above.

Man that sucks.

I hate hearing about stuff like this.

Hope he's able to recover. We need local repair guys in the hobby.

Terrible devastating news. I've heard about PnL dating back to when first got into collecting.. Only recently have I pursued getting my non-working monitors fixed and John Nguyen took great care of me. Hoping not too much of his equipment and parts are damaged and he can recover. This would be a tremendous loss for the arcade community.

It almost looks like, the cardboard boxes above the work bench are what caught on fire, all that burnt up, and they were able to put it out but it smoked up the whole room. I'm not a fire expert but the hole in the roof is right over the workbench and where the cardboard was....

The front door is gone but it may have been kicked in by the fire department, none of the windows are blown out.

There are still cardboard boxes all around the workbench area that didn't burn. I'll bet he's able to save 80% of that stuff.

This explains why I haven't heard from them about the chassis that I sent in a few weeks back. He usually had them fixed and shipped back in a couple of weeks.

Pretty certain this happened Thursday evening. There is a thread on the Arcade Projects Forum with more details.

What a tragedy! I hope everyone is okay and nothing owned by people got damaged.

Thankfully no injuries, though John went to the ER, presumable for smoke inhalation. That he was able to make it out and is ok is the most important thing.

Unfortunately, it's my understanding parts and equipment were damaged. (Fire, heat, water and firemen responding). The extent probably won't be known for another week…

There has been talk on Arcade Projects forum of starting a GoFundMe for John to get back on his feet.
