Does anyone know what happens if you plug the 2-pin (usually with a black and a white wire) monitor plug into a game the incorrect way? The plugs are shaped so that you can only plug them in one way, but if you put a different monitor in a game, it can be possible to plug it in either way. And if the wires are all black, you can't tell which way it should be plugged in. Would plugging it incorrectly ruin the monitor? Thanks.

It will run negative voltage to it, which shouldn't do anything but flow current from monitor to the PSU.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You're wrong.

:D

The polarity does not matter. It's AC, and it's coming from an isolation transformer. The plugs are only keyed because that's a standard sort of plug, that happens to be keyed.

Thanks for helping. I bought a monitor that died when I connected it to a game. It made a "pop" sound and never worked properly since then. The guy who sold the monitor to me said that it broke because I plugged it in the wrong way, but I was not so sure that he was right.

I have done this many times and it has never done a thing to the monitor, its alternating current. The issue with your monitor popping was most likely not using an isolation transformer.
