So I cut some plexi to go over the CPO for my game...

And the top edge of the plexi (on the very top and wrapping around slightly onto the front) is a little ragged from where it was cut. Not horrible but not great either. Looks like the cut wasn't as clean as it could have been.

Is there anything I can do with this? I'm tempted to try filing it but I'm thinking that will make it look a lot worse than it does now.

I don't see any easy way out of this -- I think I'm stuck with it the way it is now.

Any thoughts?

Bench Belt sander

If placed on a bench belt sander for a second or two you can get it flat. Sometimes it will kick up a little hot plastic. I pull this off as I go. While it is hot. Just do it slow. Works on Plexi every time :)

Can't you just sand the rough edge(s) a little bit to smooth them out???

I can maybe put some masking tape along the top front and top back to protect it and then try just sanding the top of it a bit to smooth it out. I doubt it'll be smooth after I'm done but it'll probably be smoother.

Would you use sand paper or a flat file? And if sand paper, what #? I think I have some 100 on hand as well as maybe 250 or 275.

But my biggest issue is that the top front appears to be slightly ragged too and that's the part that I'm afraid to touch because I don't think it's repairable. It's the not the end of the world -- it's maybe 1-2mm down from the top and it's not like it's going to be out on location or in a place where anyone's hand will be rubbing.

The plexi is cosmetically perfect except for this.

I don't have a belt sander and there's really 2 different issues here -- one is the top top (which would probably be fixable doing what you suggested) and the top front which I don't think is fixable and is the bigger issue.

Not gonna be much help now...but...I always cut plexi with a router. It gives a nice straight & smooth edge. I guess you could smooth the rough edge with a router....you'd have to loose a hair or so of length.

Unfortunately I don't have one of those either. I had the hw store guy cut it for me when I bought the sheet of plexi and it looks like he hadn't scored it enough when he snapped it loose.

In hindsight I think I'll do it myself the next time as I'd do a much more thorough (if a lot slower) of a job.

And who would do this? Sounds like something that I should take to someone to have done.
