Hi,
I'm trying to get a very poorly pleiades PCB working. All the EPROMs are bad as well other issues. They all read mostly 00s and won't even verify themselves.
I have an EPROM programmer and some 2716 EPROMS and am planning on burning a new set to them see where I'm at and start trouble shooting.
However, I can't find a full set of Pleiades ROMs anywhere. All I can find is partial sets and some with different IC numbers on them. Some are .r files (what are these?) rather than .bin files.
Can anyone point me to a decent link to find a full set of Pleiades ROMs
Any help would b most appreciated.
PS it's a Tehkan board.

That is probably a complete set. The 3 different sets on mame are all 12 x 2716 ROM s and 2 x 7611 BPROMs.

Those .r extensions are binary images. A lot or ROMs in Mame have extensions other than .bin to suit the ROM type or label the uploader used when saving them.

Thanks re .r files.
The most complete set I can find has duplicates and some ROMs missing. Are they labelled wrong?
Does anyone have a set they could post on here. I just keep being bombarded with spam and porn when I I try to find ROMs. Is there a legit safe site for them?

Here you go.

The "R" extension may indicate the location of the eprom on the PCB.
(ie. Row R ? ) .
... or it might be short for Rom #1, Rom #2, etc... ?

But all files are actually binary files.

Hope this helps.

I have a set in for repair (not looked at yet). I will try later to dump the ROMs and see if those compare to any of the mame ones.

Can you post pics of your pcb's for reference

The Centuri Service Manual Schematic shows the 2716 ROMs as follows:
Program ROM's R1 (47), R2 (48), R3 (49), R4 (50), R5 (51), R6 (52), R7 (53), R8 (54)
Graphics R9 (27), R10 (26), R11 (), R12 (44), note R11 is not labelled on schematic.
BPROMs as 6301's. R13 (33), R14 (26).
It also has TEHKAN-02 written on the bottom of the schematic.

The PCBs I have in for repair are labelled PRE-1 and PRE-2 on the component sides. The IC numbers match the bracketed numbers in the manual. The labels on the ROMs are blue handwritten dots with PD1-PD12. These match the same as R1-R12 in the manual with the bracketed IC number. To complete the missing IC number above, R11 is at IC45.
.
I agree those do not seem to match the labels on any of the dumps, maybe others who have already worked with the ROMs might be able to provide more info.

Here is a pic of the PCB I have in at the moment with the ROMs. You can click on it to enlarge it and see the IC numbers and ROM labels. I'll try and dump the ROMs later and let you know what I find out about them.

Be aware that a frequent cause of what people think are 'bad' ROMs are actually just dirty ROM legs.

This is very common on these old boards, where crap on the legs (especially on the surfaces BETWEEN the legs, which are what contacts the socket on most burners) prevents solid connections, and can result in a ROM appearing to be bad, when it's actually ok.

See this post for more:

I did a dump of the EPROMs and checked them on the wonderful ROMIDENT. All except R1 were used on several versions. R1 was only on set Irecsa.

Program ROM's (my ROM - ROMIDENT ID info - ROMIDENT use info)
R1 (47) - 1 2716 - maincpu
R2 (48) - ic46.bin - maincpu
R3 (49) - ic47.bin - maincpu
R4 (50) - ic48.bin - maincpu
R5 (51) - ic49.bin - maincpu
R6 (52) - ic50.bin - maincpu
R7 (53) - ic51.bin - maincpu
R8 (54) - ic52.bin - maincpu
Graphics
R9 (27) - ic39.bin - fgtiles
R10 (26) - ic40.bin - fgtiles
R11 (45) - ic23.bin - bgtiles
R12 (44) - ic24.bin -bgtiles
