Ok, I am in nenegotiations for a star wars. It's not working and I don't know what the issue is as I am out of the country. All the lady said is it was working before they moved it to a new building now it isn't. This leads me to believe something simple maybe,..fuse or lose clip? No idea what the monitor is but the pics look like it's in good shape. They said no less then 850...good idea?

Any input welcome. Thanks!

Sight unseen, not working, at least $850? Terrible idea.

$400 sight unseen, maybe. For $850 you need to look at it first.

Doubtful it's something easy. And the average joe always think they have a gem when it's a pile of turds. If you really want it, $650 isn't out of question if complete and in decent shape. Ask for an ass ton of pics of all around the outside and the inside to make sure it's complete and you can see what kind of wear and tear it has. It's a roll of the dice, but who knows, there just might be some dust on the fuse! ;)

What would you suggest I look for if I can go see it in person? Anything in particular on the internals?

Look for water damage and make sure it's complete. I'm with CNLmoore at $400. If they want $850 it'd better be near mint. Give your offer while holding cash in your hand showing her you mean business. Always works for me.

Ok will do. The unfortunate thing is that it isn't even the lady's. I believe it is a business somewhere in baltimore. I'm guessing it is her bosses and she just got stuck with having to do the selling as she said she had to check with the "owner" on pricing..

Edit: rooftop communications appears to be the company. Anyone heard of them?

I hope some lurker doesn't now go and buy this

All the best
I think/agree $400 not working WG6100 Monitor
$500 N/W Amplifone

Thanks. I thought of that too. Guess we will see.

I apologize for the dumb question, but how do I tell if the monitor is ampliphone or not..

I'm a total noob with vector monitors

A WG6100 is in a metal frame and near the screen

Amplifone is open and spread out

Honestly, you probably don't want to get involved in a broken Star Wars if you are a newb with vector monitors. For the $850 they are asking you could get a working one.

And it won't be a fuse.

And, I have found that female sellers without negotiation power are the absolute worst sellers to deal with.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm going to go take a look at it next week. Given what people have been saying I have serious doubts about buying it if they refuse to come down on the price. Part of why I was so exited to see this is that it is the first time I have seen one up for sale outside eBay (where they usually run 1500-2000). Plus it was actually close to me. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Guess they didnt sell it, back on craigslist...didnt even bother lowering the price on it.
