How about this... assign me the letter... lets say... "M"...
I changed the process here... Instead of having to add a game into a submit queue and then someone else having to approve it, I made the game edit utility a little more user friendly and added some logging in case something goes wrong.
Friz has access now (see the new 'Admin') link at the top left of any page you look at on the main site. That takes you to a menu where you can add edit any game directly, or you can look at the TAFA orphan list (which generates dynamically for you). If a game on the TAFA list needs to be added to the main database, there is now a link on the list which will automatically add the record and bring it up in the game edit page. The TAFA flyer will already be added to it automatically. What you will likely have to do is to pick the manufacturer from the drop down, however, or click 'Add New Manufacturer' if you are sure it isn't in there already (please be sure...).
While editing any game record there is a link at the top right of the page that allows you to create a new game record on the fly.
Friz is the test user on this at the moment. If everything looks clear to him and works well I'll begin to expand access.
This list includes some that are already here...
Take a look at: MAGIC SWORD/NEMO.
It appears that Japanese Flyer covers two games that are already in the database... MAGIC SWORD and NEMO. What should I do when I come across these types of things?
Yes, there are likely lots of flyers that are actually in the database already. I wrote a script to auto-match records that matched not only exact matches but close ones too, but this looked too strange to the script.
In this case, you could (in the editor menu) click 'Edit Game', or do a search on the main site for Magic Sword and click the 'edit' link, or bring up the actual game page and you will see a 'Edit Game' link at the bottom left next to a 'Add Magic Sword To Your VAPS Profile' link (if applicable). Then at the very bottom of the edit game form there is a section of adding a TAFA entry. You just need to enter in the TAFA flyer id number (in this case '4156') and click add. Then do the same thing for 'Nemo'. It's fine to have the same TAFA flyer referenced by more than one game.
Thanks again for the help.
... So, let me get this straight. You want us to just click on the Add Game Link in your first post and enter in the basic game info for the game as based on the TAFA flyers on the big list of games flyers also in your first post. Or do we need to verify that there isn't already a listing for said game. I ask cause I could have sworn, I had seen a Cowboys of Moo Mesa listing on KLOV before. I hope those questions make sense.
Hold off.. Let Frizz test it out first and then I'll give you access. In the case you mentioned. TAFA knows the game as "Cowboys of Moo Mesa" and KLOV has it as "Wild West C.O.W.-Boys Of Moo Mesa". So the auto match didn't work. (When you have access..) you can bring up the game in KLOV, then click the 'edit game' link, then at the bottom of the page enter in the TAFA ID # from the TAFA Report (1565) and hit add. Then the KLOV record will have a link to the TAFA flyer, and the TAFA flyer will disappear from the orphan report.
Well,
For what its worth, I attempted to add one for Castlevania: the Arcade. .
I approved that submission...
I'd love to do anything I can to help. Can you pick a letter for me, and I'll take it on?
I'll follow up with you in a few days. Thanks.
#13 a.b.cop - air bike; status: not in KLOV, update: added (first one, hope i am getting this right! 1 down.)
#2442 AAARGH!; status: not in KLOV, update: added
hmm. scrolling thru both KLOV & TAFA, i noticed that there is no entry for the Williams release of the 1942 game! could this be added to the list too ? i havent seen any mention of a flyer as yet anywhere, hoping someone has even a magazine article about the release of this one...we know it exists!
ok, added 2 as above, added the 1942 williams as well. time to take a dog walk break.
#6478 Acey Deucy, Game-a-tron; Status: not in KLOV; Update: added. entry might need review as i may have mis-spelt deucy
I approved the Air Bike game (there was already an A.B. Cop....this is a different game, right?), AAARGH (I could have sworn that used to be in the database (?), and the 1942 Williams (but I gave it a 1984 date because I wasn't sure your 82 date was correct). Not sure what happened, I didn't see it. There is a 1960 Pinball machine named 'Acey Ducy' in the db already though...
