Please Help Clean up the KLOV / IAM database - Pending Submissions (2014)

We are well overdue for an another upgrade to the main site database submission and moderation system for entries and photos. I've been doing a little bit of work on this, but I'm not finished, an in any event it isn't ready to go live yet.

One of the things we really need to do is parse though some pools of data.

NEW GAME RECORD SUBMISSIONS
One of the first (and easiest) steps is do deal with pending new record submissions. There aren't a lot of them. Are they valid? Are they spam? Are they duplicate records? We have a process for this, which has been down a while. I repaired and tested it tonight.

Please feel free to log onto the web site www.arcade-museum.com, then visit:

There is also an existing shortcut page to individual sections of this: http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/vote.php

Currently all Forum Users with "Register User" status (established users, more than have of our users) have the ability to visit and use this page.

Reports: Top Submission Voters. Thank you superstars!

Add submission

Hi,

i am quite new here as well as in arcade collecting. And I believe that there is already answer for my question, but I am not able to find it.

Where can I post/add/announce a game missing in KLOV, not just edit? I have a PCB of FLAME GUNNER. There is barely any information about hardware on google, so I would like to add it here.

Regards, Michal

One way to start would be to make a post with the information/pictures you do have here or in it's own thread. I don't know how often the DB is updated currently.

Never. People have been asking for updates since I joined in 2011. Even newer (2012+) Stern pins aren't listed, which means you can't list those in VAPS if you own them. Several people have posted threads about this, nothing has ever been done.

Good luck.

And just like with any business model that's stagnant, if no updates are implemented over many years...

Someone else creates a more ingenious solution and eventually the community will use the KLOV db system less and less, because someone else takes over: http://www.arcadeicons.com/

No, I agree that the DB and everything isn't getting updated and doesn't look like it will in the future. I was just stating they should make a post on the forum with the information they have on the game, so that at least it might be captured someplace.

I do a few updates and edits to the database now and then, and it seems I am the only one to be able to do so apart from Greg? No idea, really.
The process is rather tedious as you don't want to blindly publish new entries. You have to check if whats been entered is valid; there is spam and double entries, plus some entries are just plain BS.
I concentrate on arcade video games because thats where I am the most knowledgeable. I will take a look at some of the pinball stuff if I find the time.
On top of all the system is a bit buggy sometimes, that doesn't make things easier. :(
Unfortunatley I cannot publish newly uploaded pics.

EDIT:

Took a quick look at the unpublished pinball entries, there were just three of them, two were of machines that were already included in the database.
So if you are missing any pins, please create a new database entry for it, every registered KLOV member can do so: https://www.arcade-museum.com/add_game.php

After that you can PM me, and I will take look into the entry and hopefully publish it ;)

I wonder if anyone reads my posts :D

Now someone re-uploaded a new entry for a pinball that was already in the database and that I already had deleted a few days ago (the double entry, that is). Please check in advance if the machine that you want to create a new database entry for is already there. That helps a lot. Thanks.

I've sent in a couple machines in the past few months (Strikes N Spares from a CL ad comes to mind)

I still try to include ones I find that don't show up.

I would consider helping out with this if there were some guidelines and someone wanted to walk me through what was needed.

Strikes N Spares is already in the database for many years now. And what do you mean "from a CL ad"? The database is not a collection of machines for sale. I am confused :D

Been waiting ages to add one of my submissions into my game list on profile. (Olympia Griffon).

Also, if I try to add a game that is in database (Stern Berzerk) to my game list, it goes to a 403 forbidden dead page after clicking to add it, and it never shows up on my game list.

I've gone through and deleted a whole bunch of spam submissions myself too.

Come on, uploaded June 2016, thats not even a year :D

Voilà: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=18935

Mistakenly filed under "arcade" instead of "videogame" when uploaded, unfortunately a common mistake. In the KLOV world "arcade" means redemption games & EM games and so on, while video arcade machines are "videogames".
Many more wrongly filed entries in the queue :(
Also some people seem to confuse the database upload with VAPS

Awesome thank you! Now I know, I just assumed it classified as "arcade". :) Where's the separation with database and VAPS?

What I meant is that I came across (duplicate) entries where people put the state of their own machines in the description, like "works, but monitor needs overhaul", stuff like that.
Thats what VAPS is for, creating a list of games oneself owns.

It was a game I found listed on CL. I saved the pictures and description because it was a different manufacturer than the Strikes N Spares that were listed in the database already. Seemed like a smaller outfit.

There were a couple I've come across recently.

Theres Strikes N Spares by Premier/Gottlieb and Strike and Spares by Bally, which one was it?

Neither, it was by Mirco Incorporated, Games Division, Pheonix, Arizona.

May have listed it as arcade istead of video games.
