Please contribute new manuals to this site.

That feature is not available in older versions of Paperport. I have Paperport 5.0

Download cutepdf for free. When you view the scans inside Paperport, you should be able print them. Select cutepdf as the printer and it will save them as a pdf.

There are alot of people getting redemption equipment nowadays. I think there should be redemption manuals available. Also, considering how quickly some redemption equipment manufacturers disappear from business, having manuals available is a good thing.

I don't have time to upload them myself right now, but:

http://www.icegame.com/ServiceManual.aspx

http://www.benchmarkgames.com/login.php (login with "asdfasdf"/"asdfasdf", they have ROM images for a pile of their old games too)

It takes a bit of clicking, but there's a way to extract manuals for just about every Bay-Tek and Seidel game ever made from the Bay-Tek website: http://www.baytekgames.com/parts/

Sega has something similar: http://www.segaarcade.com/ (choose a game from the drop-down list)

As does Bromley: http://www.bromley-inc.com/service.html (WARNING: The Colorama manuals there are for the VERY-different-inside new generation Coloramas. I have a paper manual for the old gen I'll scan in at some point.)

And that's just the ones I know about.

What's the policy on PDFs that are locked/encrypted?
And PDFs with annoying watermarks (CrazyKong, basementarcade, etc.) or obnoxious coverpages (arcadedocs, basementarcade, etc.)?

Should I unlock and remove all the crap before uploading?

Cover pages don't bother me... what bothers me are the ones that are hyperlinked for every scanned image page so if you try to click to move the page in the window it opens IE.

I turned off that "feature" in Acrobat Reader but it still says that feature is turned off so I have to click OK.

Can I just mail you some DVDs full of .pdf manuals?

Thanks, but that would just add more work for me. My limited available time would be better spent working on additional functions for the site or tweaking existing ones (ie: to make it easier to deal with the photos submission backlog).

Are you interested in new (2001+) or redemption game manuals?

Yes we would be interested in all manuals, though at the moment the system is limited to adding manuals to games that are in the database. So if they are not in the database they have to be added first.

[bunch of links]

Thanks for the links. Actually, we already have indexed and linked to all the manuals provided on the Sega site.

I'd prefer to avoid locked/encrypted PDFs, as well as ones with watermarks or cover pages. As far as removing that stuff, it shouldn't really be necessary as often other collectors originally scanned that material and thus it is usually already available without any of the things you found 'obnoxious.'

Also you mention the cover pages and 'arcadedocs.com'. All content from that site is now in our manual section, and without any of the coverpages that they used to have. That domain (along with arcade-manuals.com) now redirects to this one.

Another thing I'd prefer not to see in the manual section...

When I uploaded the manual for Hokus Pokus, I didn't pay close enough attention to the syntax and I entered the manual as "Bally Hokus Pokus".

Now the manual sorts with the B's instead of H's in the manual index. Can this be corrected? Sorry.

I solved the problem by changing the sorting on the report to order by game name instead of manual title.
