I know this sounds dumb, but I couldn't find any info on this.

Due to necessiry, I recently sold off most of my boards and chip sets leaving me with a non-working red tent. I need either another chip set or another 0003 PPU to get 2 games running or Balloon Fight running. However, I just don't have the funds to complete either (assuming I want to pick up a 0003 PPU or another chip set/daughtercard which would run me probably $50-80 depending on the game).

With all that said, how do I get just one side running? I have a complete Excitebike chip set that won't run without another chip set on the other side of the board. I just want to at least be able to play the one game that I have left until I can complete both sides.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :)

I have a vs cabinet with only one side of the board populated (with excitebike) and it works. I need to look at it to see what side. I'll check and post later.

Is yours a Dualsystem (dual-monitor)? I know I can play 1 game on a Unisystem (single-monitor) but I can't get it running on my red tent. I think the other side needs to be populated. Just wondering if there's a way around this.

What happens when you try to run it? I can't think of a reason it wouldn't run off the top of my head.

Nothing shows up on either screen. I know for a fact that this excitebike board worked on my unisystem when I had it. I guess I can try using my other working board, but I always thought you needed a complete board regardless to get a dualsystem running. If that's the case, I just want to find a workaround to play just 1 game. Who knows, maybe this board doesn't work anymore. I'll test out the other one when I go home for lunch.

I think that's the key thing to look into if I recall.
In order to run only ONE game it has to be populated on the correct side and there may be dipswitch settings as well. (honestly I just can't remember off the top of my head)

The MDS (dual system) boardset is also used for single game systems all the time.

Basically set the board up like a Unisystem or single monitor Upright.

Yes, I know the chip set needs to be placed on the 2A-8B side to run a single game and that's how I have it installed. I don't know about dipswitch settings though. I've never heard of that being a factor.

ok i dealt withthis awhile back

there are 2 longer chips on each side the one with a heat sink and one with out bolth sides need the chip installed that does not have the heatsink for you to be able to run a game on just one side

Yup, that worked! CPU chips on both sides.

But now the side that's working has a wave that keeps running down the screen. Weird. Solve one problem and get another. :)

I might as well try to find another chip set.
