Hi all

Newbie here, just got done installing a cap kit on my G07 for my Defender and now is playing blind, I have heard that I need to check the B+ voltage after a cap kit. Question..how do i do that?

Also heard to check the HOT which I also replaced along with flyback. How do I check that?

I have double check and rechecked to make sure that all the caps are installed correctly and all solder joints are good. Have no neck glow with this of course.

Thanks for any assistance, this forum is great for us beginners!

+1 to the above

Use continuity on your meter and touch both ends to either side. If it beaps its good... if not its is bad. There is a small one next to fly and another larger one on the board.

thanks guys

both fuses check out good, going to check the big white resistor for power now.

With the games power off, and your multi-meter on the diode setting. Place your red lead on the HOT casing, and the black lead on the chassis ground. A good HOT will read roughly 1200 to 2000.

in this video i explain how to test the H.O.T. on a G07.

Just watched the video and it just helped with my repair diagnosis lol to make sure i was doing the testing right thanks!

no prob that is why i made it. glad you liked it.

so many people ask those questions. that i get tired of typing it.
plus a vid helps allot of people like me that like to see something done vs reading it and still scratching their heads.

Have been contemplating making a video of just this for a while now. Saves me the time of trying to get help to get it done. Thanks Brother, Rock On!

so any suggestions of things that want to be shown i am all ears.
if i have the parts or monitors no prob i will do them.

glad you liked it.

Thanks guys for the help,

I found a flowchart for this monitor and followed the steps and ended up removing X701 resistor and bam! the monitor works! it works perfectly, on the chart it states that if it works after removing X701>voltage regulator failure. Can I test the voltage regulator the same why as the HOT? I tested the HOT it shows 156v.

I look in the basic monitor section and tried to test the voltage for the B+, it stated to test the R1 on the terminal closet to the CRT, I tested it and no matter how much I turn the adjustment on the B+ pod, the voltage doesnt change. is this also an indication of the voltage regulator?

wonder what damage would be done, if I just leave it the way it is without the X701? the game has never looked so clear and crisp.
