Hi all..

a quick question. I unpacked all my boards and found my bubbles boardset.

I take it, that in order to play this game, I would need the jrock multi williams kit?

A removal of my robotron boards to bubbles (the bubbles is complete) is simply not enough??

Cheers...

here is the page of info to be studied to figure it out: http://www.robotron-2084.co.uk/techwilliamshardwareid.html

which says: Bubbles runs on *almost* identical hardware to Robotron and Joust, except that the CMOS RAM is 8 bits wide instead of 4 bits wide. To stop board problems Williams made the CPU to ROM board cable a different pinout to the other games so a Bubbles CPU and ROM board will only work together and not mixed with other boards. You can however ROM swap a working Bubbles boardset to Robotron, Joust, Stargate or Splat! (with modified ROMs) with no problems as the software just ignores the extra 4 bits of CMOS RAM.

as I said....I have the complete boardsets....so the pin outs on the robotron would be the same???

Cheers!

I don't know other than the info on that site, run by a guy in the UK.
I have never seen a Bubbles board set up close.

Any details, Yellowdog ?

The pinouts are the same except for the IO. Power, video, memory protect, coin door, sound card and video are all the same.

Player 1 and player 2 start match up between Robotron and Bubbles but I don't know about the rest. Check the IO pinout in the manuals.

As stated before, as long as you have complete sets. If you mix and match the XMPU boards and the ROM boards you will get the following:
ROBO MPU + ROBO ROM = working
BUBBLES MPU + BUBBLES ROM = working
ROBO MPU + BUBBLES ROM = no working
BUBBLES MPU + ROBO ROM = no working

They will look as if the boardset was dead if you mix.

Once I verify Working...I'll decide then...

Found my complete defender boardsets....they are still on the big-butt metal plate they originally came with.

Gonna plug it into my stargate...I hope at least a picture out of it.....

Cheers.
