On older games when folks bought them did they come with mylar that the owner had to put on the playfield? The reason I ask is I met a fellow "High Speed" owner who was an operator in the 1980's and he bought 20 High Speeds and put them on location. He stated to me that out of the box there was no mylar but mylar came in each box and the owner had to apply the mylar themselves to cover playfield. Is this true? He could not believe my HS was not Mylar'ed, it has mylar by the slings and pop-bumpers and where the ball drops off the ramp, but thats it. Just asking as he showed me 3 of his high speeds and all had the playfield protected with mylar that came in the box from Williams in 1986.

My 1987 machine had mylar pieces in a goodie bag but were never installed.

The PF did not suffer though as there is no wear to bare wood where the mylar would go and this machine was in a Bally's Alladin Castle.

Most games shipped with a full PF mylar that was unapplied. This was mostly prior to diamondplating PF's.

My Black Knight still had the little envelope with the slingshot mylars in it, unapplied. Though I believe the pop bumper came pre-installed, as you have to otherwise remove the bumper to install it.
